I recently had the chance to take a look at one of our city's amazing theaters, The Peabody Opera House- 1400 Market Street (FORMERLY Kiel Opera House). This place used to be part of the Municipal Auditorium which was connected next door (where the Scottrade Center Stands today) and had a capacity of 9100. The Opera House is amazing and has been beautifully restored. However, with only capacity for 3100, it can't hold very large events. However, this is where several events that have drawn thousands have occurred. More recently, the Donald J. Trump Presidential Rally. It drew thousands Downtown. However, many couldn't get in which makes me wonder, if the Municipal Auditorium still existed, would've he had his event in there? Who knows, but, I do know that Peabody needs Brownie Points for how much money and effort they invested into this Gateway City Landmark. Way to go Peabody!
Central West Ends development is bringing to spur more development along Forest Park Ave. specifically now, there will be a mega project that will destroy a old, rusty foundry and make it into a upscale area with shops, restaurants, residential, and office space. Yes, Office Space. Demand for offices is growing in the city again and this is a good sign. The project may start soon but take a while to build. When fully built out, the offices and other businesses there could add 2500 jobs to the city. The area is located directly East from Ikea and Soth from the Standard Apartments.
