In a interesting proposal for a very thin strip of land just to the West of the 22nd Street Interchange and Possible Future home of the MLS Stadium, Marriott and Equis Properties are planning a 137 Room Hotel with a 110 Car Parking Garage attached to it. The plan is to have the 5 Floor Hotel up and running by 2019. The Hotel will replace the Harry's Restaurant and Bar.
But there is a conflict here. Remember the MLS Stadium? This property sits within the development zone for the project which could put the breaks on the project and see it moved elsewhere around Downtown. The SC STL Group has not made public what the plans are to do with the property along the site if Equis wishes to build the hotel here. The current site plan shows this property being used as a Parking Lot for the Stadium (Not a good use in my opinion)
There is some good out of this announcement for the project. Equis Plans to build the Hotel with or without the Stadium plan. The time frame for when the project could begin is still to be decided but the project joins the ever growing list of projects planned or under construction in the City of St. Louis.
