The Saint Louis Center was a mall in Downtown Saint Louis. The mall opened in 1984 to a large crowd. Since then, it became a failed experiment to bring more people in to downtown. Up until it closing in 2006, the mall suffered high crime causing people to leave it and go else where. When the Galleria was expanded and the new West County Center opened, The mall crashed as it died. The mall sat vacant for over 5 years until about 2011, where it was ripped apart and made smaller then turned into a parking garage. That is right, a parking garage! The only retail in it is a movie theater and street level restaurants. No interior stores.
The bottom 2 videos show what happened to the mall in the first 2 months of renovations.
