I recently had the chance to visit Nashville Tennessee for a few hours. While there, I saw things that St. louis' citizens should see. It represents what can happen when a city has smart leadership. Nashville is going through its most historic Construction boom ever. The city government is even trying to get contractors to increase the number of employees that they have to complete all of them. There are several projects all under construction. when I was there, I counted 15 Tower Cranes in the Downtown Area alone.
Saint Louis can learn some lessons from this. Nashville is centrally located like St. Louis and has connections to major transport networks whether that's a highway or airport. They also have plenty of room to build on like Saint Louis. In Nashville, all of this development was started with 3 projects...
1. The New Music City Center (Convention Center)- Completed in 2013 for nearly a Billion dollars
2. The Omni Hotel, Part of the Convention Center
3. The Pinnacle at Symphony Place- Opened in 2010 with 29 floors
What I am implying with this is that 3 projects in a downtown area like theirs can kick start something huge to begin. That can apply to Downtown Saint Louis. But in order to kick start constriction of such a magnitude in Saint Louis, 3 new construction projects would have to be initiated much like Nashville's. Not a new Convention Center But Hotel and Office Building and a mixed use building. That's where Ballpark Village Phase 2 comes in. All 3 of those are rumored to happen. If they are built, it can kick start construction on surrounding parcels of land and begin developing Downtown Saint Louis to Make it Great Again.
In another post, I will explain the area of Downtown that should be designated for certain things to kick start development and Make it Great Again.
